The hills are alive...

Left the overnight train in Feldkirch, Austria and hopped onto a bus heading for Vaduz (the capital of Liechtenstein). We wandered around Vaduz for a while, then headed up the hill to the castle where the Royal Family live. The views were impressive.

Next we wandered along the Rhein. As we crossed an old wooden bridge we had crossed into Switzerland! Not bad eh!? Three countries visited and it is only 11am :)

There really wasn't much to do in Liechtenstein - unless you want to buy dentures or stamps, so we got on a train bound for Salzburg...

In Salzburg, we visited the gardens from the Sound of Music (just so that I could take pictures for my Mum - I didn't really want to go!) and then headed across to the old part of town. Here we had some excellent food and quality beer.

The Schaufel Challenge

After a night of passport checks, we didn't feel up to much. So we headed to the park - played a round of crazy golf (Colin won!), ate ice-cream and e-mailed.

Before our night train through Austria, we had the small matter of 'The Schaufel Challenge'. Nothing too complicated - first to eat a 'schaufel' of food. Colin bailed first, Doug fought valiantly, I came a close second, but Dave won :(

Manchester 1 Nottingham 0

The tour of Vienna started with a visit to Schloss Schönbrunn - a lovely castle. It was here that we beat Dave and Doug (or Chris and Dave) in a race around the posh maze :)

Next we bimbled around the town and sampled some delicious ice-cream. We were getting a bit bored of all this walking around, so we hired a 'Vienna Bike' each (for €2) and away we went!

Rathaus, Sigmund Freud Museum, Hundertwasser House,... Nothing worth writing about tho :(

Nodding Dogs

Our group of two has now grown to a group of four. Dave and Doug have been stalking us since Cologne and now they are following us to Vienna!

Václav drove us to the train station at break neck speed and at one point nearly into a tram - I thought I was going to die!!

The train journey to Vienna was spent gazing out of the window and laughing at Colin as he tried to sleep.

Arriving in Vienna, we got accomodation gifted to us on a plate and a free lift as well - can't be bad :)

Later that evening Dave and Doug dropped a bombshell on us. Dave is called Chris and Doug is called Dunc - confused? Good!
